Small Wonder is proud to announce that its 2024 Landscape Chardonnay has been awarded the Trophy for Best Chardonnay in its class at the 2025 Cathay Global Wine & Spirits Awards Asia. This honour is reserved for the highest-rated Gold winners within each varietal category, recognising wines of exceptional character and craftsmanship.
The award follows a rigorous judging process held between 25 September and 20 October,where entries from 20 countries were blind-tasted by a panel of 45 leading sommeliers, importers, and industry figures from across Asia.
“Every decision at Small Wonder, from organic farming to gentle, whole-bunch pressing and wild fermentation, is about allowing the fruit to clearly express its site. Recognition on this scale confirms that Tasmania’s cool-climate expression of Chardonnay belongs among the world’s best,” said Paul McArdle, CEO of Overstory, parent company of Small Wonder.
Winemaker Andrew Trio added: “We’re thrilled to see this wine recognised on the international stage. Our winemaking philosophy comes directly from the vineyard, straight into the winery. The 2024 Landscape Chardonnay is citrus-infused, saline, and beautifully restrained.”
The Cathay Global Wine & Spirits Awards, founded by the renowned Debra Meiburg,Asia’s first Master of Wine who has organised competitions for more than 16 years, the GWSAA aims to set new benchmarks for excellence in the beverage industry.
This win reinforces Tasmania’s growing reputation for world-class Chardonnay and continues Small Wonder’s commitment to producing organically farmed, cool-climate wines that express their origin with precision and grace.
